Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur

Client: His Highness Maharaja Gaj Singh/ Marudhar Hotels Private Limited/ The Indian Hotels Co. Ltd

Project Title: Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India

Launched: 2004-2006

Umaid Bhawan Palace is one of the great palaces of India. Constructed over a 15 year period and finished in 1943, it is named after Maharaja Umaid Singh, grandfather of the present Maharaja of Jodhpur. Set amongst 26 acres of lush gardens, the palace was constructed in the grandest of scales and in the fashionable Art Deco style of the time.

The project was completed in two phases and included a full renovation of guestrooms, conversion of existing rooms into suites, reception, a new spa, restaurants and bars, palm court, royal suites, a tented spa, a retail boutique and other public areas. As the building was fused with Indian and Art Deco styles, JPA kept to those themes with the interior design.
