JPA collaborates with Cathay Pacific on two new seats
JPA’s has collaborated on two new seats for Cathay Pacific that go into service this spring on selected routes for Premium Economy and Economy customers.
JPA acted as the lead designer on the project working closely with Cathay Pacific and seat supplier. The London agency was responsible for the design of the new Premium Economy seatback’s space under the personal TV – able to accommodate small items like mobiles phones and glasses without sacrificing legroom – and it also worked on the meal table housed under the armrest and a separate cocktail table that emerges from the centre console to hold a drink glass or snacks. In addition, JPA developed the seat cushion ergonomics as well as its look and feel including the back cushion’s stitch line and the upholstery’s colour and trim.
For Cathay Pacific’s long-haul Economy seat JPA designed the amenity stowage under the personal TV and segregated net pockets set apart from the literature pockets. Three new vivid seat colour fabrics were developed – sea blue, sky blue and grey – to harmonise better with each other and also the other elements of the cabin from seatbelt, monitor shrouds, armrest, curtain, carpet and even crew uniform.
